The Weird and Wonderful Bosses of Terraria part 3: Hardmode Continued
We've already been through quite a lot and there's a light at the end of the tunnel! Unfortunately that light is blocked by a whole wave of bosses we have yet to cover! Let's start excactly where we left off last time after we defeated Golem!
If you decide to head to the beach at any time you may find a young boy, the Angler. As his name suggests he is a fisherman, or rather a fisherboy, and will join your growing town provididng you can wake him up! The fishing mechanic is a good way to get random items and complete quests but there's another aspect to the mechanic, one with scary implications! Head to the Underground Glowing Mushroom Biome to hunt down the elusive Truffle Worm. These worms are very rare and the few times you can find them they are difficult to catch! Once you have one head over to the Ocean and use the Truffle Worm as bait, the fish you'll catch is none other than Duke Fishron! In the first phase this giant fish/ pigron hybrid will try to ram you five times and launch anything from explosives to Sharknados! Sharks in tornados! In his second phase he'll shoot Cthulhunados which cannot be destroyed. They will disappear once you have slain Duke Fishron who is said to be the hardest boss in the game, save for the final boss of course!
To get to this final boss first you must face 5 other bosses! It's like a Megaman boss rush although these are bosses you won't have faced before! Techinically four of them are event bosses but they must be killed to meet the final boss. First of all you'll meet the Lunatic Cultist who looks a little bit like a Plague Doctor trying to protect himself from the Black Death in the 14th and 17th century! He can be fought after defeating Golem but his defeat intiates a series of events where I wouldn't be able to fit Duke Fishron in so I started with him. The Lunatic Cultist is a mage who will fly around, attack you with fireballs and other magical powers and can create copies of itself! These copies also possess magical powers and will attempt to combine their powers to summon the Phantasm Dragon. To stop the summoning of the Phantasm Dragon you must attack the real Lunatic Cultist, but make sure to do it quickly!
Here we reach the Lunar Event which automatically activates once the Lunatic Cultist has been slain, the player is forced into batt,le with four bosses and an army of mobs based around each boss. First up is the Solar Pillar, this boss is like a worm that slowly falls from the sky and has sharp looking teeth! He is surrounded by a force field and doesn't really attack the player. It summons minions to attack the player and after about 100 minions have been slain the Solar Pillar's force field is deactivated! The same is true for the rest of the bosses: the Nebula Pillar, the Vortex Pillar and the Stardust Pillar. The Stardust Pillar, however, can attack the player at will once the force field drops! Each pillar looks alike and are only really distinguished by their colours and the minions they spawn.
Defeating the Lunatic Cultist and the four pillars and you'll finally be faced with the end game boss: Moon Lord! It is now apparent that your whole journey has led to this moment when you see his design! He has three human looking eyes which are speculated to be the Twins and the Eye of Cthulhu, he also has an exposed brain which is likely to be the Brain of Cthulhu! He has a head and hands that you must defeat to slay this boss, however, he is a tough cookie! First off all the world is plunged into perpetual darkness until you defeat him or more likely you are killed! As you do more damage to him he will summon beings known as the True Eye of Cthulhu which are invincible! They fire balls of energy and death lasers at you! To get rid of them you'll have to slay Moon Lord! The True Eye of Cthulhus are made when you destroy one of the three eyes on Moon Lord, they will follow you in their bid to kill you! Moon Lord will fire laser beams at you meaning you have a lot to dodge as you try to survive this eternal night! Destroying the three eyes and thus creating all three True Eye of Cthulhus will expose Moon Lord's core, destroy his core and he will be destroyed too! After all of this, the adventure you have been through we're still far from slaying every boss! We still have the event bosses and the mobile/ console bosses! Don't worry though, the light is getting closer!
