Sonic.exe part 3
Sonic the Hedgehog is the fastest thing alive according to the TV series, in the comics he even out ran light! How could Tom out run Sonic? "YOU CAN'T RUN", Tom knew he couldn't, he couldn't save Tails and now it was Knuckles' turn...
The screen returned and Tom, despite his urge to stop, kept going. This time the stage was the Scrap Brain Zone but the sky was the same as on the menu with dark, reddish clouds. The music playing was Giygas' theme from Earthbound which plays right after you beat Porkey. Just like Tails, Knuckles looked scared, he even fought against Tom as Tom moved him forward! Tom knew that only something bad could lie ahead of Knuckles and that, ultimately, Tom was leading Knuckles to his death! Knuckles began to run, as he did the stage flickered with red static and the Kefka laugh began again from an unknown source. Tom knew Sonic was coming! Maybe not Sonic but whatever it was that possessed him and now it was after Knuckles! Tom eventually came across blood stains on the floor, Knuckles looked like he was about to be sick when Sonic fell from the sky: "FOuNd YOu"!
Red static filled the screen and Sonic had vanished. Knuckles looked terrified as a high pitched squealing sound played from Silent Hill 1's final boss. Tom knows his game sounds well to connect those two! Sonic appeared in black smoke, Tom tried to fight back and tried to use Knuckles to punch Sonic. Sonic vanished and laughed before he appeared behind Knuckles again. Tom turned Knuckles around to punch Sonic again before he disappeared again! Sonic was toying with both Knuckles and Tom! Tom lost control again and was forced to watch as Knuckles fell to his knees and began sobbing. Sonic lunged at Knuckles as the screen faded to black accompanied by a distorted screeching sound, "So many souls to play with, so little time... would you agree?".
Was that a message directly to Tom? Was Sonic speaking to him through the game? Tom was brought back to the main menu where, under the second file, Knuckles was trapped just as Tails was! Knuckles' red fur turned to a reddish grey, his dreadlocks were dripping with blood and his eyes were like Sonic's and Tails', completely black save for two red dots and bleeding! Tom felt that the actual characters were trapped in this form of purgatory! Tom decided to shut the game off for the night, he wished he hadn't. He dreamed of being in total darkness but standing in the sole spotlight, from the darkness he could hear the cries of Tails and Knuckles: "Help us...", "Why did you give us to him?", "Run away before he gets you too...". The cries slowly died out as Tom heard the Kefka laugh: "You're a lot of fun to play with kid, just like your friend Kyle, though he didn't last long..."!
Tom was scared, staring into the total darkness looking for the source of the voice. Sonic appeared, flickering in and out of existance. "Won't be long until you join him and all my other friends...". "You can't run, kid. You're in my world now. Just like the others...". Sonic grabbed Tom and Tom could see Sonic's black and bleeding eyes! Tom woke up suddenly, after a few hours Tom put the game in his PC once again. Dr Robotnik was last man standing, Tom chose him on the third and final save file and was dropped into a world called "...". Had Kyle died? What is Sonic? Can Tom escape? What happened in the Sonic universe? What monster has Sonic become? This is well beyond the Werehog from Sonic Unleashed that we started the story with! Tune in next time for the finale as Dr Robotnik runs the gauntlet and we discover the true extent of Sonic's powers!
